Android System WebView

Android System WebView Description

As an explanation, the Android WebView is a part of the system powered by Chrome that essentially gives applications on an Android system the ability to display web content.

Taking the hat off and giving you the real definition: it is the doorway that allows certain content to be displayed. The app lets third party apps open up web pages within the app itself, instead of opening the web page in the browser of your mobile device.

Android System WebView Review

A Little Clearer Please

To break it down: Imagine you are on Facebook. You click on a link which opens a web page in an in-app browser instead of opening it in Chrome or Firefox. Before the WebView, you would need to leave the application to view the web information.

More Crashes Than A Car Race

As a loyal iOS user, but a reviewer of both platforms, I found the WebView to have a serious problem: it crashes. A lot. And when it crashes, it takes your whole system along with it. It freezes the application you are using and forces you to perform a complete shut down of the device. This is a problem. An annoying problem.

Embedded and Ready

WebView is installed and runs in the background. The application is activated when a user clicks on a link from an app that supports WebView. A user may want to try to disable the WebView service, but this action is not recommended since it is connected to several apps in the system.

Conclusion

WebView is an application that, when functional, helps users find information and take new directions in their web searching. However, the application is apt to crash often and can easily freeze up your system when it crashes.
