About

Every one of us faced with losing computer/mobile data at least one time in life. That project, you’ve been working on, has disappeared. Then you wish you had early a backup or even CD with files to recover them. In the era of internet backup, be sure that 99 % your files will be safe, forever.

Meet the free backup. Finally, you don’t have to worry anymore about lost files. Store them at the safe place. Only you will have access. Or so, you can share a file with a group by giving them an e-mail and password.

On the drive, you can access from many devices. Access with your phone while walking instead of rushing home to turn on the laptop.

Google Drive vs. Dropbox vs. OneDrive

In order to speak truthfully, we must compare Google Drive to others storage applications. Dropbox is the biggest competitor, which offers only 2 GB free. Google has 15 GB is free, else more you will have to pay. The prices vary from region to region and depending on how much more GB you need. Subscribe monthly. Google Drive has slightly affordable prices for subscribing other than Dropbox and offers more combinations for extra space. OneDrive has the cheapest price for subscribing monthly/annually.

Google Drive features

Use the same address you have for Google Chrome or make new for Google Drive profile.

Every kind of files can be stored. Document files, photos, videos, audio and many more. Uploading and downloading a photo from the drive slightly decreases photo quality.

Simple to use. On the left side, choose the folder you want to open or visit trash bin. If you delete something by accident, easily find it in trash been and restore. On the top are recently visited files, with no effort reach them.

Sync a folder on a device with Google Drive. Whenever you are making changes in the folder, it will upload every single change. Even, make offline access to folders.

Share files with others. They don’t have to have installed an app for that kind of document, just browser, and internet.

In school, we had the mutual profile on Google Drive so we could upload our tasks and assignment. The professor could see and give us points. Also, you can see what others write and get inspiration. Check if something was edited by others in your file. It is a good thing for interaction between students and professors. Besides mutual profile, you can have a “shared” folder/file, and choose to show to specific people.

Edit

If you want to view your document, there’s no need to download it and then open. Just click on the document, it will open up immediately. It’s a good thing because it doesn’t take much of phone memory. One of the useful things is that you can edit right away in the app, whichever document without using any other app or downloading it.

Problems

If more people are connected at the same time on the e-mail, it can cause problems. Problems such as loading so slow, files can disappear, but they will be back for sure. You won’t be able to download files. As soon as someone is logged off, the Drive will work properly again.

Privacy

If you are the only one with the password of the e-mail, then you don’t have to panic about privacy. But, if you are not, then you should change the password. There’s no possibility to lock just one or two folders for others.

Conclusion

It's in the overall pretty good app. It allows people to share files almost instantly. For sure Google made Tech Revolution with their way of sharing files. Now Google Drive has become the essential part of almost every company in the world, allowing people to view and edit files online without using old-school download button.
