Microsoft Outlook Description

Microsoft Outlook for android and iOS gives you emails and calendars in one place.

You can connect to any account from one of the main email providers and it's not a requirement that you use an outlook.com email account.

Outlook works smoothly with Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Office 365 and Yahoo.

Outlook provides you with a feature called "Focused Inbox" that keeps all your important messages on top, so that you don't lose sight.

Alternatively you also have a regular inbox.

With Outlook you can easily switch between email and calendar functionality with just a few swipes and taps.

Microsoft Outlook Review

Microsoft Outlook reviewerMarc

By now almost everyone in this world has a cell phone and even a tablet of some sorts, and many of us are getting their work done on smart phones and tablets. So it makes sense to use the best tool for a job available. This is where Microsoft's Outlook program tries to outshine the competition.

Microsoft Outlook is a cross-device email client, that doesn't just do email but fully integrates into the Microsoft Office app family.

What is the Microsoft Outlook App?

Download Microsoft Outlook on your mobile device, and you have a very powerful tool that breathes e-mail and promises to turn your smart phone into a workstation. Upon installation you have to create an account for Microsoft Outlook, but don't need to also use the @outlook.com domain. Other email providers domains such as Yahoo, Gmail, and AOL are accepted as well. You can assign pretty much any email address you want to the Microsoft Outlook app and have them all in one place to make management of different accounts a breeze.

Microsoft Outlook Pricing

There is no charge to download and use the Microsoft Outlook app. When you download the app from the Google Play store (or iTunes / Windows Phone Store) you will be able to use all of it's features for free.

Microsoft Outlook Platforms

The Microsoft Outlook app is available across multiple platforms. These platforms do include the MacOS, iPhone, and iPad as well as Android and of course the whole Windows OS family. The Outlook app is a standard pre-install available with all Windows 10 computers.

What is Special About Microsoft Outlook?

Per se, nothing. But since Microsoft Office is one of the most popular software suite to help with all kinds of business administration and tasks, it makes sense to use an email client that is fully integrated into the Office software suite.

This is also where Outlook then can be considered "special", as it's true power comes by using it along with other Office software.

So if you or your business, are using Microsoft Office, then using Outlook as your mobile email client is definitely recommended.

Microsoft Outlook App Compatibility

Some of the advantages of the Microsoft Outlook app are that it's compatible with more than just Microsoft domains (i.e: @outlook.com). You can easily use Yahoo, Microsoft Office 365, Gmail, and AOL just to name a few. This allows you to combine the power of outlook in combination with Office for example, but without sacrificing flexibility.

What Are Some Downsides Of The Outlook App?

Some of the things people are saying that they do not like about the Outlook app are, after they've change their password on their desktop computer they get locked out of the Outlook mobile app.

When using other email providers than Microsoft sometimes not all the features are available that you have when using a Microsoft account with @outlook.com address. But these features mostly surround the Microsoft Exchange Server functionality, which theoretically you should need only when working with Microsoft Office or Enterprise services.

What Permissions Does Outlook Need?

The Outlook app needs to access your storage, contacts, and media. The app might ask for permission to make and receive phone calls on your behalf. All these permissions might seem wasteful but they are important to give the app its full functioning capabilities, especially in conjunction with Microsoft Office for business use.

Conclusion

Some of you might be asking if it's a good app to download.

My answer to this question would be that the Outlook app is one of my favorite email clients to use. When I think about it, the Outlook app is the only email app you need. This is especially true if you have an outlook.com domain and / or use Microsoft Office. And for me business and personal life are closely knit, so I like the fact that I can use Outlook in combination with all my Office software, but also have several private email accounts in the same app.
