The Trouble With Podcasts

If you find yourself taking up most of your day listening to podcasts, you're not alone. The addiction to podcasts is not necessarily a health problem, but it is a time-consuming activity that needs attention and help. Pocket Casts is the most functional podcast app on the market. The download of Pocket Casts is inexpensive and pays for itself in a small number of uses.

It's So Easy!

Once you download Pocket Casts, you can look for your favorite podcast or import an OMPL file if changing from a different podcast catcher and player application. With no sign-up restrictions, it's easy to load the app with the podcasts you enjoy. The ease of use is a massive draw for participants. An on-screen tutorial helps a user walk through the simple process of download and syncing their favorite shows.

Great features

Included in the list of awesome features on Pocket Cast is a custom list creation mode where you can name and assign icons to your list of podcasts. One of the best parts of this feature is the ability to set a time and skip ahead to that time if you so wish.

The app also has detailed settings, providing an excellent listening experience. For Android users, an optional widget allowing the user to play, pause or skip through the different podcasts.

Some Drawbacks

While Pocket Cast has an amazing look and feel, as well as functionality, there are a few things to consider when using the app. First, the web version cannot support what the iOS or Android version can regarding downloading podcasts when they are live streaming. Other drawbacks include audio problems with the macOS as there seems to be a lot of cutting out, but there is no option for silence trimming which can come in handy when hitting a dead air spot in the podcast. Another issue with the new Pocket Cast is the inability to subscribe to a syndication feed, meaning you cannot use the app to subscribe to new shows. In comparison to Spotify or Google Podcasts, a feature that is missing is data portability; you cannot export your podcast subscriptions to OPML, but you can export data from the application. This feature is worthwhile when wanting to listen to your favorite podcast on a different player.

When it comes to other podcasts catchers, none measure up to Pocket Cast. There are a few out there that come close, but with the features and ease of use, Pocket Cast is top of the line. Functionality and options make this application the first choice when searching for such software. The other podcast catchers on the market do not allow you to skip through your favorite podcast such as Pocket Cast. They are more of clunky and hard to navigate. The lack of features make these other applications a waste of effort and not up to the streamlined functionality of the Pocket Cast app.
