Rock Hero Review
I used to love playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band with my brothers when the games first launched, but as we all grew older, it became harder to get together to enjoy the game. Rock Hero takes all the things we love about the console version to the small screen.
It's even easier to play Rock Hero than it was to maneuver the instruments in Rock Band and Guitar Hero. All you have to do to play Rock Hero successfully is tap the colored notes on the screen.
There are three different difficulties to choose in Rock Hero, so you can even let your little ones enjoy the game if they like to listen to music and play on your phone.
Rock Hero keeps things simple by allowing you to use multi-touch features to press two colors at once to complete a note, so you don't have to worry about tapping extra quickly, unless you decide you want to play on the hardest difficulty, of course.
Choose Your Own Music
One of my favorite parts about playing Rock Hero is being able to choose songs that I already have downloaded to my device. Although the frets don't always feel like they match up perfectly, I get to listen to my favorite songs and feel like I have a part in playing them while I play Rock Hero.
If you don't already have music downloaded on your device, Rock Hero can get repetitive rather quickly. There are only nine songs that come with the game, and no in-game store to add more songs.
Because the songs you have downloaded on your device were not programmed by the developers to be part of the game, they can often feel clunky and uncoordinated, which gives the game a minimal feel.
Rock Hero is a great game to kill some time with if you're waiting for your flight, or to give to your children if they're bored in the grocery store, but otherwise, it can feel like a bit lacking if you're used to playing the titles made for the console.
