VSCO is definitely an app for those who take their photography seriously and don't just snap pictures for the sake of taking a selfie, although you could use it for that purpose if you wish.
The app also offers a massive community of professional and amateur followers that you can follow or share inspiration with, so be sure to browse the selection of work to find new friends and followers.
On top of being able to scroll through pages of curated work straight from the community, you can search through content from members that you follow, and even browse the editorial content available on VSCO.
Because there are so many different editing tools available in the app, you are sure to find interesting pieces that will spark inspiration as you scroll through the many galleries in VSCO.
Nothing Is Public
Photography can be a very intimate pastime for a lot of people, so some people don't like to post their work for all the world to see. The developers of VSCO understand that some people want to keep things personal and private, so you will only be able to like, comment, and follow people that you've sent a request to.
Unless you explicitly request to follow an artist, you will not be able to see any likes they receive, leave or read any comments, or view their list of followers. This feature helps to secure the privacy of followers and photographers alike, so feel free to comment, like, and follow anyone you want!
Limited Options Without A Membership
My only qualm with the VSCO app is that you are very limited as to what you can do in the app without paying for a subscription. Although there is a plethora of film emulation options, editing tools, and filters to use, you can only access a fraction of them for free.
If you consider how much it costs to purchase a program like Adobe Photoshop, then the cost of the subscription really isn't all that bad.
VSCO offers all the tools you need to create magazine and professional portfolio worthy pictures with ease, so be sure to download the app if you want to step up your editing abilities.
