Yahoo Newsroom Review

Yahoo Newsroom reviewerMarc

The Yahoo! Newsroom app ranks #54 on the iOS app store at the time of this writing.

After using it for a while now, I wonder why that is. This app is definitely one of the best news apps I have used so far, and beats the native iOS app in pretty much every way possible.

The most recent update mostly targeted the design, but also got rid of a feature that some sad individuals used to post fake news and news that were rewritten with ulterior motives.

It was a hot topic among users, but I think in the end it made the app better.

After the recent update you now use the top-bar to navigate between categories, topics and featured news. This makes it easier to navigate and find news faster than before.

News stories are displayed as an infinite list, meaning you can scroll down with one hand and ever have to make awkward hand movements to hit a small pagination button.

Perfect to quickly skim through the most recent updates while you are on the bus or in the train to work.

Community News Features

One of the best aspects of the app are the community features, discuss news with friends, family, or another community member.

The commenting features are not as awkward as they are on many newspaper websites, in the app there is a real feeling and sense of community in my experience.

You can like or dislike the reaction of someone, by giving a thumbs up or the respective down thumb.

Reply to comments others made and get a discussion going. On many occasions I've actually had very fruitful discussions in the app, that on a standard news website would have quickly turned into a troll-fest.

Give it a whirl, download it and get started. For the AI (Artificial Intelligence) feature to really kick in you have to use for a couple of days at least.

But after, I'm sure you will love it and use it on a daily basis.
